NATIONAL PAVILION OF COSTA RICA
DEMOCRACY & DREAMS
Thanks to the efforts of curator Francisco Córdoba, Ca’ Bonvicini will be hosting the Costa Rica National Pavilion from 1 June to 24 November for the 55th Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition.

The “Democracy and Dreams” exhibition created by artists Priscilla Monge, Esteban Piedra, Ottón Solís and Cinthya Soto focuses upon the social dynamics of populations that have the power of shaking personal identities the moment in which they are conveyed, by using a poetic language in all of its variations.

“Democracy & Dreams focuses principally upon the dream of a “perfect” democracy which has abolished the Army and defends universal education and health care. Everything originates with the chimerical exercise that only the utopia of art itself is capable of expressing and conveying. The shapes, colours, motion and poetry proposed by the artists and their differing positions with regards to space, time and artistic representation are the tools used to build a habitat capable of reinventing an encyclopaedic palace of knowledge for the future where interdisciplinary idioms never yield but are enriched in a kind of constantly evolving universal data base.
