MADRIDFOTO is a new photography fair showcasing 47 national and international galleries targeting a new brand of photography collector. Several publishing houses and specialized magazines will also contribute to this outstanding experience.

MADRIDFOTO will exhibit the work of over 230 artists from around the world. Amongst these, the fair will feature photographs by Alberto García Alix, Andrés Serrano, Antoni Muntadas, Axel Hütte, Bleda y Rosa, Caio Reisewitz, Candida Höfer, Chema Madoz, Cornelia Parker, Cristina García Rodero, Duane Michals, Edward Burtynsky, Erwin Olaf, Isabel Muñoz, Jean-Marc Bustamante, José Manuel Ballester, Marina Abramovic, Martin Parr, Nan Goldin, Paul Graham, Phillip Lorca-DiCorcia, Pierre Gonnord, Rineke Dijsktra, Robert Mapplethorpe, Roland Fischer, Sean Scully, Sergey Bratkov, Sergio Belinchón, Stan Douglas, Sylvia Plachy, Wolfgang Tillmans, Xavier Miserachs…

The opening edition of this new fair is scheduled for May 7th through 10th 2009 at pavilion 6 in Feria de Madrid exhibition centre. The architect Andrés Jaque has designed the exhibition hall for the fair to ensure a pleasant and comfortable experience for visitors, while making sure than the works on view at the stands of the various galleries are seen to their best effect. The booths, aisles, rest areas and cafeteria are all conceived on a human scale to make the most of the visitor's attention span. MADRIDFOTO will be an enjoyable, manageable opportunity to discover new and no-so new names in photography and video in which the spotlight is on public involvement.

Following the resounding success of Paris Photo and Miami Photo, MADRIDFOTO is the only international contemporary photography fair in Spain focusing on private, corporate and public collections.

Looking out for the artistic excellence of the event is the MADRIDFOTO advisory committee comprising Rafael Doctor (art critic and founder of MUSAC), Lorena Martínez de Corral (freelance curator and director of Expoactual), Rosa Olivares (curator, editor and director of the specialized publication EXIT) and Giulietta Speranza (Art Director of MADRIDFOTO).
