Stating that art is a 'dear friend', this year the Pavilion of the Syrian Arab Republic collects 'a varied testimony of Syrian, Italian and International artists, joined by the need for comparison and for cognitive opening between spiritual fields, who look toward the Mediterranean world beyond their individual political, cultural and religious ideas. We are living a time fraught with complex tensions, which are extremely difficult to reconcile. Therefore there is today a deep need to hold high the peaceful mission of art. In order to demonstrate this urgency the exhibition Cara Amica Arte has been designed and set up.

In an open space both mental and physical, the presence of seventeen artists wants to be the stimulus for more extensive comparisons, emphasizing again that 'l'arte non é cosa nostra (Art is not our thing)', quoting the formula, which opened the Italian Pavilion in 2011. In times of tumultuous change and crisis, which put a strain on people and continents, it's up to the artists to anticipate the hope of 'new human encounters', harmonizing the most diverse expressions on an international stage where the differences co-exist rather than become a source of national pride.Curator: Duccio TrombadoriCommissioner: Christian Maretti
