Eighth Annual BAMart Silent Auction

April 11–22, 2012

www.BAM.org/auction

BAM is thrilled to announce the Eighth Annual BAMart Silent Auction, featuring over 100 works from internationally renowned and emerging artists. The auction begins April 11 and concludes on April 22 at 6PM EST. All works can be viewed online at BAM.org/auction and will be on display for the duration of the auction in the Peter Jay Sharp Building lobby at 30 Lafayette Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, from noon to 11pm. All proceeds benefit BAM, America’s oldest performing arts center and the home for adventurous artists, audiences, and ideas.

BAM Trustee Beth Rudin DeWoody serves as the honorary auction curator for an auction that reflects the resonance of a thriving Brooklyn art world and includes works by Mickalene Thomas, Tauba Auerbach, Laleh Khorramian, Dustin Yellin, Erik Benson, Tamara Gayer, David Benjamin Sherry, and Mariah Robertson—alongside blue-chip works by Ellsworth Kelly, William Kentridge, Alex Katz, Pat Steir, Richard Serra, and Cindy Sherman. BAM is also thrilled to offer an exquisite new work by Argentinean Guillermo Kuitca, a creation made especially for BAM’s 150th anniversary. This diptych made of mixed media on paper was inspired by seating plans of BAM’s iconic Howard Gilman Opera House and the BAM Harvey Theater. In addition, BAM will present five original Andy Warhol Polaroids from the 1970s and 80s of luminaries who have played an important part in both the history of BAM and Brooklyn, such as Martha Graham, Keith Haring, and Truman Capote.

The online auction is powered by Paddle8, the premier online art marketplace, enabling interested parties to participate from any location, 24 hours a day. Computer kiosks will also be available on site during exhibition hours. In addition, Select works will be featured in spring auctions at Phillips de Pury & Company on April 25 (Evening Editions), May 11 (Contemporary Art Day Sale) and May 21 (Latin America) respectively. Online bids on these items will transfer to live auctions to be held. More information can be found on BAM.org/auction.
