Lisa Strassberg biography

Australian born and raised in New Zealand, Lisa moved to New York to pursue a career in fashion and design. After Art Directing advertising images and online experiences for top luxury brands over 25 years she wanted her creative experience to be more visceral and handmade. She found her medium in clay and inspired by the female form, dance and nature, she began creating sculptures. The abstracted, organic figures morph from one expression to the next, which transforms into a constant fluid state. They are adorned with many layers of both glossy and matte glazes often creating a dripping effect that details a moment and the process of creating identity. The tactile permanence and ancient tradition of the clay medium elevates these records of female experience to a totem or statue like importance, celebrating the strength and beauty of the feminine in all its facets.
